Molo Academy Secondary School

To the heights by hardwork

Molo Academy Secondary School is located at the heart of the Great Rift Valley. The school was established under the shadow of the nearby town of Molo, a settlement known not only for its fertile land and lush vegetation but also as one of the coldest places in Kenya. This strategic placement offered a serene and conducive environment for learning.

Originally conceptualized as a primary school during the colonial era, the institution only metamorphosed into a secondary school through the intervention of the late President Daniel Moi. This transformative step marked the beginning of Molo Academy's journey toward becoming a symbol of academic excellence within the region.

The term ‘Molo’ was incorporated into the school’s name in 1986, reflecting the surrounding township's identity. In its initial stages, the school catered to both boys and girls. However, around 2007-2008, a critical decision was made to convert the school into an all-boys institution. This move aimed to create a focused and tailored learning environment for male students, a decision that soon proved fruitful.

In 2013, the school shifted its location to the Milimani estate, a suburb in Molo town. This significant relocation marked a new era for Molo Academy with the construction of new classrooms and an administrative office. The new site allowed the school to expand its facilities and accommodate a growing student population.

Despite not being known for sporting prowess, the school, affectionately nicknamed 'Acedy,' has maintained a stronghold on academic achievements. Together with the neighboring Mary Mount Secondary School, Molo Academy has been considered an academic giant in the region. The school’s motto, ‘To The Heights by Hardwork,’ resonates deeply with its students, many of whom have gone on to achieve notable success in various fields.

Distinguished alumni include author and banker Kinyanjui Kombani, former Capital FM presenter and current Director of Communications for Nakuru County Eddy Kimani, Urban Coffee Grind and Grill owner Wilfred Wachira, and Outsourced Accountancy CEO Felix Osumo.

The school's success can be attributed to its dedicated team of teachers, who go beyond conventional teaching methods to ensure each student’s potential is fully realized. The modern facilities, comprising well-equipped laboratories, a library, and a computer lab, play a pivotal role in enhancing the learning experience.

From its modest beginnings to its current status as an all-boys secondary school, Molo Academy Secondary School has continually evolved, upholding its legacy of academic superiority. Its emphasis on holistic education and strong moral values makes it a nurturing ground for students, preparing them for a promising and impactful future. Thus, Molo Academy is not just an educational institution; it's a community dedicated to fostering excellence and character development among its students.
